Provides project technical leadership for Hydro Automation from contract award through completion. This includes the design making process throughout the project, interpretation of the contract documents, providing interface between company and customer, as well as functions as needed to successfully complete project profitability goals and project schedule. Also, provides technical leadership.
 
Automation Specialist Team Leader
Professional Registraton Desirable. Approx 35% Travel.
Tasks & responsibilities
  • Support the OTO team where required including, making evaluations of replacement options for existing equipment, developing specifications for proposals, and developing material estimates in conjunction with sourcing.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the competitorâ??s products, market differentiators and market price for the Digital Governor, Excitation and Protection products.
  • Lead for the execution of OTC work in the specialist product areas including making designs, reviewing designs, reviewing sub-suppliers operations & the overall planning and sequencing of work to maintain OTC and AMB.
  • On occasion the Automation Specialist team Leader may direct or conduct factory and field testing of the specialist product components.
  • Will be responsible for gathering feedback from the sales and engineering functions in York for input to the R&D Product Development, corporate System Owners and Product Management teams in the central holding.
  • Responsible for the execution of long term strategic plans to better adopt the standard products to the United States market.
 
Candidate requirements
  • Graduate engineer of an accredited school, BSEE or BSME.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software as applicable to Controls for Hydro machinery. A technical Expert in at least two of the three specialist products of the Digital Governor, Excitation, and protection systems.
  • Proficient in Drawing Circuit Diagrams in a modern Computer Aided Design (CAD) environment. Proficient in interpreting and reviewing short circuit studies and Protective Relay Setting reports.
  • Familiar with the application of modeling tools such as ETAP and/or SIMSEN. Proficient in the required field procedures to safely commission the Thryricon Excitation system.
  • Provide Technical lead for Project Engineering teams ranging typically from one (1) to three (3) professionals.
  • 1. Five Years Experience in the detailed technical design and project implementation of at least two of the three product specialties of the Digital Governor, Excitation and Protection Systems.

This position requires travel away from home base for 35% of the time during an average year and for periods of up to four weeks for a single assignment. All applicant should include resume in (PDF or MS Word format) and relevant transcripts.
