| Tasks & responsibilities |
- Assign hourly employees to their daily tasks/activities to support manufacturing operations schedules, while establishing daily/project goals for the union hourly workforce.
- Initiates continuous improvement activities and actions to improve departmental processes and workflow.
- Coaches performance and development, provides training and resolves problems for hourly employees
- Insures good communications cross-shift. Completes all communication and information sharing within the hourly workforce necessary to meet goals.
- Maintain a cooperative and open relationship with all departments to maximize the opportunity for production of a quality product on time at the best possible cost.
- Responsible for establishing and promoting the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment.

| Candidate requirements |
- Requires a high school diploma with 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Journeymen papers in the field supervised are strongly recommended.
- A two or four year technical degree (preferably mechanical, manufacturing or electrical) from an accredited university would be a plus.
- A detailed knowledge of manufacturing equipment, processes, and good interpersonal skills are required.
- Candidate should have 2-5 years in a manufacturing (preferably metalworking) environment.
- Previous supervisory experience in a Union environment is preferred.
- General working knowledge of lean/Toyota Manufacturing techniques and process documentation/improvement ( Kaizen ).
